Your child is learning Spanish. Maybe they’re doing well in class. Maybe they’re preparing for GCSE. Maybe they’ve been working with a tutor for months.
But there’s a gap between knowing Spanish and actually using it — and no classroom in the world can close that gap the way a week in Madrid can.
When language learning moves off the page and into real life, something shifts. Words stop being something to memorise and start being something to reach for. Confidence that takes months to build in a classroom can happen in a matter of days when you’re surrounded by the language at every turn.
That’s exactly what this trip is designed to do.

Every morning your child will have four hours of Spanish lessons — but not the kind they’re used to. Two hours are classroom-based, focused on practical spoken Spanish. The other two take place out in Madrid itself, using the city as the classroom.
Every afternoon the group explores Madrid through carefully chosen activities — each one designed to be genuinely fun whilst deepening their connection to Spanish language and culture.
What your child’s week looks like
Every morning
Four hours of Spanish lessons with experienced tutors — a mix of classroom-based sessions and out-and-about learning in Madrid. All levels welcome, from confident beginners to GCSE students looking for a real edge.
The afternoon activities
🏛️ Guided walk through the center of Madrid
The most important monuments, hidden corners, and stories of the city — finishing at a panoramic hotel with breathtaking views over Madrid.
🌿 Gymkhana in Parque del Retiro
A language-based treasure hunt through one of Europe’s most beautiful parks. Fun, competitive, and entirely in Spanish.
🎮 OXO Video Game Museum
A firm favourite with the group — exploring the history of video games with a very Spanish twist.
👨🍳 Cooking class
Learning to make three iconic Spanish dishes — paella, tortilla de patatas, and pan tumaca — with local instructors. The kind of lesson they’ll remember (and recreate at home) for years.
☕ Chocolate con churros
Because no trip to Madrid is complete without it.
Where you’ll stay
Your child will stay at the AIL Madrid Student Residence — a dedicated student residence in the heart of Madrid, designed specifically for young language learners.
Rooms are available in double, triple, and quadruple configurations, all with full board included — breakfast, lunch, and dinner taken care of so your child can focus entirely on the experience.
Parents are welcome to travel to Madrid independently and make their own accommodation arrangements nearby.
